Gwanghwamun Art Hall is just opened as Korea’s first specialized traditional Yeonhui performance hall (traditional folk performance in Korea). Marking the historic opening of the exclusive theater, 100 Days of Yeonhui Festival kicked off from 2008.5.9~8.3.
The festival will recreate the old Yeonhui productions that were performed on the streets into an all-new original production created specifically for the big stage, in order to show audiences of its unique appeal
Yeonhui encompasses a range of entertainment genres, such as vocal and instrumental music, dance, theater and even acrobatics. It embodies the spirit, humor and values specific to Korean people and their ancestors. It has been enjoyed by all classes, from commoners to royalty, for more than 1,000 years.

Traveling together is a dynamic traditional percussion music concert combined with B-Boy performance. The concert presents a new style of music that incorporates seoljanggu (musical performance and the rhythmic dance accompanied by Janggu, hour-glass drum) and samulnori (percussion music accompanied by four musical instruments) performance, pan gut and modeumbuk (a kind of Korean drum) performance. Traditional and modern dance movements add excitement to its music. Creative percussion music performance in particular is composed of a new form of works that feature musok and pulmul gut (shamanistic ritual) and a variety of traditional performing arts. The harmony of percussion music, exciting rhythms and diverse body movements, both traditional and modern, will captivate the eyes and ears of its audience, as well as their hearts.
